A imagem fotográfica como objeto da sociologia da arte

Abstract

This paper discusses some questions put by Pierre Bourdieu in his book Un Art Moyen. Our intention here is to initiate a dialog between the french tradition of the “new sociology of art”, through Nathalie Heinich, and some non-french authors like Elizabeth Edwards, Janice Hart, Rosalind Kraus, Howard Becker. The main point is: due to the specifity of that historic moment is it possible to argue that Bourdieus’ arguments still appropriate to the theoretical field and the practices of contemporary photography?
