Brazilian english: uma antropologia línguo-cultural

Abstract

This article aims to indicate, through the oswaldian anthropophagic metaphor some reflections around English as a lingua franca (ELF), as well as the arousal of Brazilian English as the resulting product of linguistic uses in a local context. Through this perspective, the article aims at discussing the notions of interculturality, intercultural speaker (BYRAM, 1997) (HOUSE, 2008) and the existing relationship between the speaker´s mother tongue-culture. Therefore, establishing a dialogue with the sociocultural aspects in the communication process in the English language, we propose a desacralized vision of language through excerpts of language use in ELF, which pose as the representation of the Englishness produced in Brazil. Thus, trough the acknowledgement of this linguacultural production, this text undertakes a reflection on linguistic use, production context and identity expression in the target language.
